HEALTH AND THE TERMITE ANALOGY by David Darbro, MD

Here are some basic principles that are meant to aide you in your quest for returned health.

WELLNESS PRINCIPLE

Imagine that your house has been severely damaged by termites.  The structure has been so weakened that it is a wonder the house hasn’t fallen down around your ears.

Now think with me a minute.  The termite infestation that is destroying the physical house you live in provides an easy way to understand this universal wellness principle so that you may proactively intelligently deal with bad health.

See if this analogy makes sense.  Our make-believe house mentioned above is in drastic need of repair.  In order to repair the house good has to be given and bad has to be removed.  The bad termites and rotten boards are the bad and must be removed.  Strong undamaged boards are the good and have to be supplied.  I call this the “Wellness Principle.”   It is a universal principle and applies to both your physical house that supplies a roof for your head and to your physical body.

The Wellness Principle simply stated is: “Give the good, purge the bad, and let proper function resume”

If you are in bad health allow me to suggest that the “house” you live in —i.e., your physical body is in severe need of the application of the Wellness Principle.

Let’s see how it works by applying the Wellness Principle to our termite infested house mentioned earlier.

As you can imagine intense work is needed to salvage this dilapidated house.  Let’s think through what needs to be done.

Before work can begin in your house the furniture has to be moved away in order to clear the area for work to proceed.  The wallboard that covers the infested studs must be removed—and that isn’t an easy task.  Dry wall has to be physically chipped away with hammer and chisel so that the damaged studs can be exposed.  If you have ever done that work you know the mess involved.

Now after that work is done the workers can now slowly and carefully shore up the termite infested wall studs with good supports in order to support the ceiling.  Then the damaged studs can be safely removed.   Again, good is given that bad can be purged.

When cells aren’t functioning as designed and are to be repaired or replaced this very same principle is put into action.   Whether we are talking about living cells or rooms in the houses made with wood, blocks and mortar the same procedures occur.

STRUCTURE DICTATES FUNCTION:

Structure always determines function in buildings, the car you drive or the cells that make up your tissues.  If you aren’t healthy then structure in some way or other has been altered.  Your tissues are either lacking what you need or you have what you shouldn’t have.  Damaged cells or tissue that can’t function properly either must be repaired or removed so that proper function can resume.

STEM CELLS COULD BE CONSIDERED TO BE REPAIRERS

Whether the damaged or dysfunctional tissue is muscle or nerve or bone or eye or etc., the termite analogy may help you understand a bit of what the body ideally does to reestablish function.  Stem cells are the repairing, replacing, or renovating principle used by the body to activate the Wellness Principle.  It is indeed true that our bodies have been fearfully and wonderfully knit together that they have been programmed with the tendency for self healing using these tools.

A WORK IN PROGRESS

So if your health is lacking and you are taking positive steps to increase your circulating stem cell population you are in reality increasing your work force of repairers.  The Wellness Principle is being enabled and enacted by several million stem cells.  In other words, your body has become a work in progress under their influence.  They are working diligently for your benefit to restore your health.

DYNAMIC BODY CHANGES—REJOICE!!

As repair is going on you may experience ups and downs.  Some days you may not be feeling too well as the health building work is going on.  My advice:  Rejoice.  If you feel lousy it is a sign your body is doing something good for you.  No pain…No gain.  Your body is undergoing a dynamic body change.   To gain wellness you must be willing to go through the detox stage.

WHAT TO DO TO MINIMIZE THIS DYNAMIC DETOX CHANGE

Be sure to drink lots of water and keep the bowels open so that “termite damaged boards” and “destroyed dry wall” can be safely removed.   If that doesn’t suffice then the next steps are really up to you.

One option is to decrease the number of active stem cell workers by decreasing your dose of AFA complex.  Or, you may decide to push ahead and get through this uncomfortable time sooner.

By understanding the concept of the Wellness Principle you should be reassured that good is really occurring.

Note:  Not everyone goes through this stage and they can still be a Work in Progress

BY NOT UNDERSTANDING THE WELLNESS PRINCIPLE, LABORATORY TESTS CAN BE MISINTERPRETED BY WELL MEANING PHYSICIANS

You could say that in effect the Wellness Principle represents dynamic changes that are occurring inside cells with the aim of improving health.  Bad cells are being dismantled and dumped from tissues into the blood stream on their way to the liver/ bowel or to the kidney to be released from your body.  You could look at this phenomenon as being the body’s way to clean house. Because of this house cleansing your doctor’s tests may show elevations of certain compounds.  It may be that your disease oriented doctor may think you are really getting worse when in reality your body is kicking out “termite junk” which means that you are actually getting better.

In medical school I was told to treat the patient and not the lab.  This advice is certainly as true today as it was true 45 years ago.    The doctor’s tests may be measuring the result of your body clearing out the “termite infested ceiling joists”.  The “Termite infection” has been the cause of your illness for years.  This is what has caused your problem in the first place.  Dynamic detox changes are a good thing and not a bad thing….even though the doctor may be alarmed at lab results.  Although the doctor may not understand the principles involved you may be (and probably are) a WORK IN PROGRESS with the goal of health improvement.

WORK IN PROCESS MAY MEAN INTERMITTANT TIMES OF DECREASING FUNCTION

It is possible for body function to be improving for a month or so and then slide back temporarily.   Think about the termite room analogy.  The infected room gets all cleared out and things are functioning wonderfully.  But then your stem cells discover a closet in a back room that is termite infested.  They of course go to work applying the Wellness Principle.  The process of removing the drywall mess and infected studs and dumping them into the blood stream to carry them out the body once again must happen.  Examples could be that hearing or sight could be diminished temporarily until the mess is satisfactorily dealt with.  Then hearing or sight is restored.  Think of an onion.  Peel a layer at a time to discover new and deeper work that requires the Wellness Principle be employed.

TIME IS NEEDED FOR THE WELLNESS PRINCIPLE TO BE COMPLETE

Also understand that it takes TIME for the body to rebuild itself.  Think of a tornado devastated town.  That will take months for workers to clear away the wreckage so that a new foundation can be laid so that a new town can be built. It’s no difference with stem cell workers.  They need time at the micro level the same way as time is needed at the macro level.

THE WELLNESS MELODY:

Give the good.  Purge the bad.  And Let the body do what it is designed to do.
